about
Founded in 2017, the Pass’Sport pour l’Emploi association is a key player in the socio-sports ecosystem. Its mission is to harness the potential of sport to support vulnerable populations and achieve other social goals (particularly professional integration). The association draws on expertise developed over several years in providing employment support through sport, notably through its innovative tools: EvaCops (a tool for assessing behavioral skills through sport) and Enigmarius (a team-based urban orienteering race).
In a context where social inclusion, education, and social cohesion are central to public policy, sport has emerged as an essential lever for societal transformation. Beyond mere leisure, it is also a tool for social inclusion and a driver of economic and social development.
We participated in the third edition of the Study and Training Days (JEF), organized by the Social Impact through Sport consortium on January 30 and 31, 2025, in Nantes. These events brought together more than 200 stakeholders in the socio-sport sector: sports federations, sports-based social inclusion associations, researchers, and public institutions.
They provided a unique opportunity to discuss the major challenges of socio-sport (a term that has gradually become established to describe sport for social purposes rather than performance), to share best practices, and to reflect on the sector’s evolution.
A Lever for Inclusion and Social Cohesion
According to the COSMOS report, the impact of sport is significant:
- €1 invested in sport = €13 saved in public spending (health, education, inclusion, social cohesion). Impressive, isn’t it?
- It represents 2.6% of French GDP, or €68 billion.
- The sector employs 196,000 people and generates between €7.5 and €11 billion through sports volunteering in 2023.
But beyond the figures, the 2025 European Sports Days (JEF 2025) provided an opportunity to highlight the psycho-social dimension of sport. It constitutes a powerful tool for re-engagement and personal development, particularly for those far removed from the job market. It helps develop soft skills such as discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence—essential skills in the job market. However, this cannot be improvised: professional training is essential.
